Sonic x Sunny puppies 2 weeks upate

Sonic x Sunny puppies turn 2 weeks today. They are very contented babies, all put on weight nicely and Gosh! Can they moved! I don't remember I have such ACTIVE pup at this age! Doing the ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) with the puppies are very challenging. Cutting their nails are like having a fight with them! Puppy owners beware :)

Luckily, the worming process ain't too bad this morning :)

Isla is the first one that open her eyes on Tuesday; then follow by Spirit on Thursday; and today Storm open his eyes. Miss Ziggy is the laziest, she has a little crack line, so I am expecting them to open wide tomorrow. So far, Ziggy and Storm are the easiest to handle. Isla and Spirit are the most agile, these two can actually "run" instead of staggering around.

SNOW update

First snow in the countryside, all I can say is WOW! Pretty! A truly winter wonderland. Everywhere is snowy white, too many undisturb snow for us to play for a long time! For a change, I didn't fancy sledging this time.  We have enough hill for me to sledge but I was fascinated by the snow scene and the animals on the farm. All the shelties and the silly pony are in heaven, Seny isn't too sure about the snow, silly girl :)

The weather is freezing, we are in between -2c to -8c. We had a snow blizzard on Monday but yesterday, the snow melted a bit and today, it all frozen and it got a bit icy at place. I did fell over once on the slippery ice and did it hurt!

pups update next :)

Smash(er)

I know this blog is all about The KNIGHTs Shelties but the wee pony needs to steal the blog every now and then :) I can't tell you how much I enjoyed having Smasher. Apart from the shelties, he's probably the only other animal that steal my heart :)

I dream of having a miniature Shetland Pony for a long time. All the people I talked to about having a miniature Shetland Pony, they all told me the same thing, they are called "Shitland" as well. Mmm ... I know nothing about a horse/pony before I have Smash. I wonder what kind of terrible temperament can a cute miniature Shetland can be?

Needless to say, up to now, Smasher have been a smashing little pony. He is very passionate and cute. The first week, we struggled through a lot of things. I didn't listen to most advice to keep the dogs away from him, I thought, the dogs will be following me everywhere I go and he better get used to have them around. Sonic and Sing got kicked once but Sipzie and Seny got kicked A LOT! I guess it is all about trust. I trust him and he trust me.

Smash comes walking with us everyday. Not like dog, he stops to munch on grass or thistle a lot. All our fields are well fence off, so I am very confident to let him be and carry on walking and playing with the dogs and on the way back, he just followed us back to the house.

We have a big miniature Shetland Pony Tuffey comes to keep him company in the field. Tuffey is 10 and he is very handsome. He is almost 3 times the size of wee Smasher. I know it is all about field manners but I feel a little hurt to see how Tuffey bullied Smasher by kicking and biting him. Tuffey is very jealous of him. Whenever Smash sees me or hear me calling him, he wanted to get to me but big Tuffey pushed him away and now Smasher would not come close to me. In the last couple of days, I tried to give Smash a break from Tuffey, so he came into the garden instead.

He is such a tiny pony, he done no damage to the garden in this wet weather. He is energy efficient as well. He kept the lawn short for me and I don't even have to think about mowing the lawn at all. The best thing about him is he always go to one corner to poo, so poo picking is easier too!

He is so passionate that he sometimes appear on the french window, I gave him treat and he just walked right him like he should be living in :) Colin is really worried that I am going to invite him on our bed! I sometimes think he thinks he is a big sheltie. He loves the company of the shelties.

This is Smasher "asking" to come in :)

Daddy Sonic and Grand-dad Sing :D

Congratulations to first time DADDY Sonic and first time GRAND-DAD Sing! Sunny's puppies arrived on Friday. Although she was scanned for 6 puppies but only 5 were born; sadly we lost the last born big sable boy. He was perfect but life is so cruel when comes to breeding! He wasn't breathing :(

a very happy mama Sunny. She is very attentive to this litter, I guess natural birth and cesarean made such a big difference!

first born SHADED SABLE bitch puppy. This one must take on grand-dad Sing :)

 second born SABLE dog puppy

 third born SABLE bitch puppy

fourth born SABLE dog puppy

All pups and mama are doing well. They all have put on weight already. Pups and Sunny will be back to me very soon, I can't wait to have them all.

Happy New Year

I didn't stay up for the countdown last night. This is the first time in many years I've missed the countdown. I was in bed by 10pm. The Farm life wear me down very quickly :) Colin kept encouraging me to stay up and he even put my "favourite" program on TV for me, I tried very hard and I eventually fell asleep by the fire snuggling up with the shelties.

I can see/hear the fireworks going on out there at midnight IN BED! I position our bed facing the balcony and we haven't got a curtain yet. The window is too big, it has to be tailor made and we haven't got around to do so. I kinda crack open my eyes a little and saw some fireworks but I was too tired that I fell asleep very quickly again.

On New Year day, the sun was shinning! It was dry and sunny, I hope this is a good start of the year. We took the boys (5 boys plus the pony) for a long walk and then come home for a cup of tea and off we went with the two girls. I've really struggled with walking the girls and the boys together. The girls like to play rough. Seny likes to chase them and pull their fur off, mainly the tail and the rough. Poor Sonic has not much tail left and Saturn's rough is getting thinner! She dares not touch Sing or Sizzle as these two will tell her off! Seagull is just too boring for her to chase :) Sipzie isn't too bad, her only problem is when I started playing, she will push her luck and run clumsily and land on top of the boys or knock them over. Sing suffers a lot from walking with Sipzie. He sadly is not so strong anymore, he is limping along and every now and then wanted to chase the ball and Sipzie will come from nowhere and knock him upside down! She still has not learn to give way or avoiding the crash. With Sizzle's lower back problem, I am not taking anymore chance to let accident happen again. Sometimes, I wish I can walk all the dogs together to save me some energy but I supposed on the other way, I get healthier if I walk more :)

New Year Resolutions? Mmm ... I supposed those boring ones like "lose weight" which I know it will never happen. I've lost weight and then put back on again, back and forth ... but I will try again. "Eat healthier"! Agility resolutions? I hope to train regular; back to the basic foundation with Sonic, a lot of straightline which he is very weak of! Warm Sizzle up properly before each run. Set up my BAD school, BAD stands for Barby Agility Dog lol! And finalise the pony's name! Phew! That's enough to keep me busy!

some pictures of the boys today ...

and here are some of Sipzie ...
Colin is getting interested in training Sipzie :)

I like this photo of us but I hate my bad hair day!

independent Dog Walk, we will get there!

Sorry no pictures of Seny, she was too busy running around or getting too close, I just can't get a good picture of her!

Happy New Year everyone!
