Smash(er)

I know this blog is all about The KNIGHTs Shelties but the wee pony needs to steal the blog every now and then :) I can't tell you how much I enjoyed having Smasher. Apart from the shelties, he's probably the only other animal that steal my heart :)

I dream of having a miniature Shetland Pony for a long time. All the people I talked to about having a miniature Shetland Pony, they all told me the same thing, they are called "Shitland" as well. Mmm ... I know nothing about a horse/pony before I have Smash. I wonder what kind of terrible temperament can a cute miniature Shetland can be?

Needless to say, up to now, Smasher have been a smashing little pony. He is very passionate and cute. The first week, we struggled through a lot of things. I didn't listen to most advice to keep the dogs away from him, I thought, the dogs will be following me everywhere I go and he better get used to have them around. Sonic and Sing got kicked once but Sipzie and Seny got kicked A LOT! I guess it is all about trust. I trust him and he trust me.

Smash comes walking with us everyday. Not like dog, he stops to munch on grass or thistle a lot. All our fields are well fence off, so I am very confident to let him be and carry on walking and playing with the dogs and on the way back, he just followed us back to the house.

We have a big miniature Shetland Pony Tuffey comes to keep him company in the field. Tuffey is 10 and he is very handsome. He is almost 3 times the size of wee Smasher. I know it is all about field manners but I feel a little hurt to see how Tuffey bullied Smasher by kicking and biting him. Tuffey is very jealous of him. Whenever Smash sees me or hear me calling him, he wanted to get to me but big Tuffey pushed him away and now Smasher would not come close to me. In the last couple of days, I tried to give Smash a break from Tuffey, so he came into the garden instead.

He is such a tiny pony, he done no damage to the garden in this wet weather. He is energy efficient as well. He kept the lawn short for me and I don't even have to think about mowing the lawn at all. The best thing about him is he always go to one corner to poo, so poo picking is easier too!

He is so passionate that he sometimes appear on the french window, I gave him treat and he just walked right him like he should be living in :) Colin is really worried that I am going to invite him on our bed! I sometimes think he thinks he is a big sheltie. He loves the company of the shelties.

This is Smasher "asking" to come in :)

Smasher is so neat! I always wanted a pony or horse too. What an exciting life you have out on the farm!
