The Destroyer!

Mmmm ... Sipzie has turned into a destroyer since Christmas Day. To start with, she has chew her lead and pull her collar off while we travelling from home to my in law in Brighton. When she first join us, she was a good travller, I let her travel loose at the back with the others and she has not causing any problem but just lately, she decided she can jump to the front and then back and then to the front again. It is a big distraction for me when I am driving. I had a tailgate put in a the back but the dog guard that I bought from ebay a couple of years ago didn't fit. It said in the description that is for Volvo V70 but I cannot figure how to fix it. The boys are brilliant travellers, whenever the car moves, they just lie down and keep still until the destination but Samber is a nightmare. If she is loose at the back, she will be everywhere in the car, so I have to put a harness on her, then clip a lead onto the tailgate to restrict her movement. I did the same to Sipzie but I forgot the harness! I just clip one end of the lead to the tailgate and the other end to the collar. By the time we got to our parents on Christmas Day, I was in a shocked! The journey is less than an hour and I cannot believe what damaged she has done! I certainly hasn't expect that to happen!
I can understand how she chew the lead but I cannot understand how and why she pull her expensive show collar off!!!
the collar is now broken and cannot be repair, so she now has a cheap collar just in case she decided to break another one!

Well, I thought the Christmas Day incident is an one off, NOPE! On Boxing Day, she damaged Saturn's Christmas present. I was playing with the new toys with the dogs for nearly an hour. Phew! They have enough energy to kill me :) Then, I left the toys with them and walked off to make lunch. That is not unusual to leave the toys on the floor as this is where all the toys live. By the time I brought lunch into the lounge, I saw Sipzie happily pulling the hair off this red toy, so I went to stop her. I was shocked yet again to see she has done more damaged that I thought! You can't really tell her off because a toy is meant for playing but I was a little bit upset as this is Saturn's favoruite toy. I can only hope this is a ONE-OFF.

Then, the next day, she destroyed this squirrel toy, a Christmas present from Ellie to Sizzle.

Then, yesterday, she chew off her own Christmas pressie! A pink piggy sandwich!!

 a selection of chew toys!!!

a FAT festive season!

We have been over fed ourselves this festive season! I thought we were going to be snow-in and can't get to Brighton to be with our family; so we ended up buying too much food which are going to expire during the weekend! As the snow melted, we realised we will ended up being very fat this weekend. On Friday, I cooked a roast beef and a roast pork for the TEN of us, me and Colin; my nephew and his girlfriend, Sing, Seagull, Saturn, Samber, Sizzle and Sipzie! Then, we all became couch potatoes for the evening! I felt so lazy and fat!

We had a little lie-in on Christmas morning, then took the dogs out to Mitcham Common for their Christmas walk. The snow has now turned into slippery icy condition. I am so glad that all my dogs are so well behaved and never pull on the lead. That really help from slipping on the ice. As you can see from the pictures below, they are burning off their calories intake from Christmas eve :)

After the walk, it's time for their Christmas pressies ...
they are truly spoiled! Everyone has a pressie at least and some lucky ones has more than one!!
look at the mess! Sing is the only one that likes ripping off the wrapper and is crazy about pulling a cracker! Taking him to a Christmas party can be a nightmare as he wants to pull everyone's cracker!!
I've noticed a change in Seagull lately. He always is a shy/timid/nervous dog, I call him a "special need" dog. He isn't good with children, especially the boisterous one. Over the last couple of months, I beginning to see he tried to approach our friends ... and he also become "playful". I didn't get him a toy for Christmas but a tasty treat for him. Look what he got? He pinch Saturn's Christmas pressie. Saturn doesn't mind as he has two of this toy, he was happy with the red one and let Seagull has the green one! I was so happy to see him playing.
At parents' house in Brighton, Seagull even tried to jump up onto the sofa and snuggled up to KY (my sister in law) and she started to plate his hair!!!! I can't believe Seagull was so good and let her do it. That was a big surprised for me! To make it even better, Seagull didn't even THINK to snap the children leg this year. In previous years, it was always our worried as Seagull has been in the past tried to snap some children's ankle.
 see, Seagull even fall asleep!
I am so please that I have never given up training Seagull. He will be EIGHT next week but he could be a SLOW developer!

We got down to our parents MUCH later than expected. The Volvo wouldn't start. Colin and my nephew tried to roll the car onto the road for me to jump start but the battery was too flat to even twitch! There were some passing by drivers offered to help pushing the car but I felt so ashamed of it. Colin and my nephew push the car for about 350 yards and could not do anymore! We tried to ring the AA and no one pick up the call. Luckily there were a couple of very nice gentlemen came to rescue. One of them got a jump lead to help start the engine! We managed to get to see the family at last ...
this is part of our family after the meal, playing the traditional QUIZ time
the boys love their granddad ...
... especially Sizzle, giving granddad kisses xxx

We left Brighton around 7pm and the Volvo nearly didn't start again!!! I hope it will be ok tomorrow as I need to drive that car to an agility training in the morning!!

sheltie power

We have a very active two days. We have been out in the Common for some long walks, enjoying the snow ...

Yesterday was lovely, sunny and lots of snow on the ground. I took the boys out with me and Colin took the girls. I managed to take some good photos of the boys:
this is my favourite one of Saturn, he is just stunning!

 and one looking this way!
And yes, although Saturn is a hunter, he loves to hunt for rabbits and squirrels but he does play ball too
 two peas in the pot!

my baby is having a lovely time playing ball without worrying Sipzie comes to get him!

my old boy always enjoy the ball and snow
even Seagull went crazy in the snow!
 the sable boys!
then, Colin and the girls met us in the Common, you can see how happy Sipzie is when she sees me, mmm ... I think she loves her mummy more than her daddy!

Today, the weather is miserable, it has been non-stop drizzling since 8am and most of the snow slowly melting away! YUK! I hate the defrost procedure and left me with dirty dogs to clean after walk ...

and here are some low quality photos taken today:
this picture of Sipzie was taken today, it has been a dull day, looking miserable, cloudy, no snow but drizzling and the snow is slowly melting away, YUK! I love this picture of her, you can see she is a powerful girl. She always charging around in SPEED!
